Abstract:
This paper reviews the possible problems when realizing a virtual choir system. Under the common computer specifications, sound cards contribute its delay significantly. Applying Audio Stream Input Output (ASIO) reduces the delay to 6 ms in the proposed real-time virtual choiring system which is a huge improvement. With the existing technology, ASIO significantly suppresses the delay, which helps to realize real-time virtual choiring. The experiments suggest that a few Mbps network bandwidth be adequate to the audio transmission in a real-time virtual choir, but still easily available when considering that video streaming requires much higher bandwidth by using 5G or WiFi 6.
