To optimize the layout of rural settlements in hilly areas, 10 indicators were selected from three aspects of nature, location, and infrastructure based on the research on the rural settlements in Miaoqian Town, Dangyang City where the development potential was evaluated and graded. The result shows that the areas of rural residential areas in the first-, second-, third- and fourth-level development potential areas were 342.23, 337.84, 172.66, and 155.91 hm², respectively, accounting for 33.93, 33.49, 17.12, and 15.46%. According to the level of the potential of comprehensive development, the residential areas were divided into four categories: scale agglomeration, renovation and improvement, control and expansion, and consolidation and relocation. Corresponding optimization measures were proposed in this study for each category. The study result provides a reference for the optimization of the spatial pattern of residential areas in Miaoqian Town and also a research idea for the optimization of the same type of residential areas.

    Abstract

Synthetic pesticides are well-known not just for their efficiency in pest control, but also for their adverse effects on humans, ecology, and living biome's ecological relationships. Biopesticides are biodegradable, environment-friendly, and non-destructive insecticides that are safe for creatures. They leave no harmful residues in food or feed. Botanical, microbiological, and biochemical biopesticides are the three types of biopesticides. 3,000 tons of biopesticides are produced every year, acc...

    Abstract

Total dissolved solids (TDS) due to both geogenic and anthropogenic contaminations, is one of the preliminary as well as essential parameters among others to describe water quality. It includes organic and inorganic components, heavy metals, salts, other dissolved substances, and others due to indiscriminate disposal of untreated domestic and industrial effluents, urban and/or agricultural runoff which exists in the form of micro or nano level in nature. Higher TDS levels in water severely impac...

Evaluation of Spatial Pressure in High Density Residential Areas

by Guohua Liu* and Ang Ji
    IJESP 2022, Vol 2, Issue 2, 31-47, https://doi.org/10.35745/ijesp2022v02.02.0003 - Published on June 30, 2022

    Abstract

It is important to understand how landscape elements affect the spatial oppression of people as high-density areas are increasing due to the limited space availability in cities. Therefore, we carried out a statistical analysis of the questionnaire survey result which was obtained from residents of the high-density areas in Xuzhou, China. From the literature review, we defined 9 landscape elements including the density of buildings in residential areas, duration of sunshine acceptable to residen...

    Abstract

Based on understanding the current situation of rural houses, we propose a new way of building rural houses which are environment friendly and correspond to modernization and urbanization. The prefabricated house with the functions of renewable energy use, effective energy use, and sustainability can be a solution to problems that the existing rural houses have had in China. For reducing construction waste, the prefabricated house can use recycled materials from construction sites. For using ren...

    Abstract

With the acceleration of urbanization, the ecological environment has gradually deteriorated, the supply and demand relationship of ecosystem services has gradually become unbalanced, and human well-being has been seriously threatened. In particular, coal-using cities are facing the dual pressure of the ecological environment and resource depletion due to the concentration of population and resources, and environmental contradictions. Thus, exploring the relationship between the supply and deman...
